PSP Marine Tapes launches Self-Fusing Silicone Tape

Originally developed with the US Military, PSP Silicone Tape provides a reliable solution to leaks in water or exhaust pipes and a multitude of containing and sealing applications in an onboard emergency.

Effective in temperatures as low as -50°C and as high as +260°C, Silicone Tape also insulates to 8000V per unstretched layer. The tensile strength has been tested in excess of 700psi and will effectively seal leaks up to 85Psi (6 bar). PSP Silicone Tape is designed to work every time, in even the most demanding situations.

PSP Silicone Tape has good resistance to mild acids, fuels, oils, solvents, salt water, Ozone, UV light, and flames. This gives Silicone Tape a wide variety of applications, allowing it to be used to make emergency repairs as quickly as possible to get you home safely and avoid unnecessary damage to the vessel.

There are many repair tapes on the market but this is the multi-purpose, quick-fix, get-out-of-trouble tape to reach for in an emergency…it can even be applied underwater!

Offered in three colours; black, white and blue, 25mm x 3m rolls of PSP silicone tape will soon be available from local chandleries or online at one of PSP’s e-commerce distributors; who can be found here; www.admiralpsp.co.uk/psp/distributors.html

Image Description:

Tensile strength test;
PSP Silicone Tape has a tensile strength of 700 Psi.

This image shows 6kg of bricks supported by one single loop of Silicone Tape. The Silicone Tape is stuck together and not tied. This photograph shows the tape holding strong, 7 weeks after the original experiment.

Burst pipe pressure test
PSP Silicone Tape can seal leaks up to 85 Psi (6 Bar)

This image shows PSP Silicone Tape easily covering half of a burst in a pipe, the pressure is 85 Psi. Silicone Tape is very easy to apply, simply wrap onto itself with a 50% overlap, starting and finishing two or three inches either side of the leak.
